Cylinder Blocks, Short Motors. Long Motors & Complete Engines

When catastrophic failure on an engine has occurred, we are able to offer a wide range of new and used engine cylinder blocks, used engine blocks are particularly useful if the engine is extremely old and out of manufacture. We can supply them as used or if required we can machine bore the cylinder block to enable fitment of repair sleeves or oversize liners.

Short motors typically consist of engine block, crankshaft, camshaft, con rods, pistons timing gears and core plugs.

Long blocks contain all of the above plus the cylinder head including full valve train , valve covers and water pump, oil pump and sump pan etc.  The flywheel manifolds, turbocharger and fuel injection equipment are not installed in a long block.

Crankshafts

We can provide new and assured quality polished/ground used Crankshafts. We can offer oversize bearings to suit the crank journal sizes to enable full recovery of a crankshaft that has suffered bearing seizure or scuffing, after machining the crank journals are checked for run-out and also crack detection of the journals is performed to guarantee the reliability and durability of the supplied crankshaft is assured.

Connecting Rods

More than often when a crankshaft has issues there is a often a connecting rod failure whereby the connecting rod bends or cracks or in a worst case scenario fractures. We are careful when supplying new replacement connecting rods that the weight of the rod matches the remainder of the existing connecting rods, otherwise any weight difference is likely to affect the ongoing balance of the engine and the smooth running of the vehicle. Most engines have graded connecting rods so it is important that the grade on the new connecting rod matches the remainder of the existing con rods.

Camshafts

Power Source Engine Parts camshafts are manufactured from carefully selected materials for compatibility with today’s engines and valve trains. Materials utilised include chilled cast, hard enable cast and ductile iron and forgings. Camshaft lobes are ground from one piece masters, ensuring correct timing and elimination of indexing errors in camshaft profile. Carefully controlled shaft hardening provides long wearing surfaces designed to mate with tappets. This ensures OE performance and emission specifications.

Cam Followers – There are four basic types of followers/lifters.

  • Mechanical Flat- a hardened iron, solid tappet requiring periodic adjustment.
  • Mechanical Roller- features steel roller on the tappet to reduce friction.
  • Hydraulic Flat- a hydraulic cylinder which utilises engine oil to provide a quiet maintenance free valve train.
  • Hydraulic Roller.
